Decorating My Christmas Emporium office.
Hello festive friend, I’ve been doing many different projects and I’m half way through most of them but I did finish Decoupaging my side door in Christmasy wrapping paper. Well yes it’s a bit random but it’s the background of my desk and it wasn’t very Christmasy and I felt I needed to make it more festive. So I already had the modge podge glue, I ordered some foam brushes and then off I went. my original plans was to decoupage the walls with that wrapping paper but I quickly realised I didn’t have enough rolls and it’s actually not that easy so definitely going to stock up on wrapping paper but for the time being I might just put up my advent calendar I made and some festive pictures and art work etc.
Any way here is the little transformation of our very drafty old door to a festive background for my filming (Soon-I promise I did film an sit down intro but might redo it after my delivery this week coming which I’m so excited to get and I will do an unboxing!) Sorry, right yes back to the decoupage-you don’t really know what I’m going on about it’s basically layering bits of paper or fabric to create a new layer normally of pictures, words or art/illustration. I chose wrapping paper because I wanted it to be festive, it was 12 days of Christmas (which coincidentally is one of my favourite Christmas carols to sing to with my headphones on-5 GOLD RINGS!) it was a lovely wrapping paper (from believe it or not from Poundland!)
So without further ado...... I present to you my mini make over........
I’m slightly embarrassed to show the before because it really has been ignored since we‘ed moved in but now we are both using the hall we are focusing a bit more on its appearance (previously having been ill, then post transplant and then building up my strength, to being pregnant and having my daughter I’ve not really had the energy or the capacity to deal with it!) Now though being in lockdown has meant I’ve been looking around the house and thinking (after my funding wasn’t available, I had to think of a plan B) so I thought about the easiest way to make a little space for me and in front of this door was the best place. It’s separate from the rest of the house and my hubby too has been using the hall as a pop up office while being at home. We ordered my little white desk and I fished out my little Christmas tree and voila a my mini office for My Christmas Emporium was created,
The process.........I was learning as I went! I did make a few mistakes but that’s the great thing, you can just cover them up!
As you can see the area was quite small so loads of metres of wrapping paper to try and cut to size was fun! In the end I worked out a system!
As you can see the progress was quite quick and by the second day I only need a few hours to finish it off. I was in two minds about decoupaging the door handle and brass plate but I didn’t think it would look right. Any way I got the last bits done and I finished it and moved my desk back In front of it and it looks so cute!
And finally my desk in pride of place......
Merry Christmas my Festive Friends from My Christmas Emporium Xx
