Putting up the Christmas decorations early........shocking!
Firstly let’s just say 2020 has not been the most amazing year, so it’s not that shocking if you know me (most of you know I love Christmas) I may have 5 trees this year and I may now be regretting it! I think I will have 3 trees next year depending on where we are but 2 big ones and a potted one for Phoebe if we can keep it alive!
Talking of trees, I’m making huge efforts to set up my own Christmas shop this year and one day I would like to own my own Christmas tree farm! Anyway when I’ve set up my Christmas studio in my garden I will have one up all year round, not sure it will be my 8 footer sadly! One day I want to have a house where I can have a 15 foot-20ft one! The dream is a converted barn on my Christmas tree farm! Anyway back to today!
So to make things more difficult for myself this year because this year hasn’t been stressful enough, I decided in my infinite wisdom to make my own blue baubles to go with my Christmas plates. This tree will always go in the dining room area or room (in a new house when we move.) It also luckily goes with Phoebe’s birthday theme of Frozen!
I’ve tried to make the decorations fun for my daughter, unfortunately half of them have already been “played with“ so it’s not perfect “Instagram“ but with a toddler let’s be realistic that’s not going to happen! If it lasts long enough for me to get a pretty pic of it then that’s enough for me! I’m not going to have a completely tidy house for some time! That’s ok though because I’m just so excited about seeing her presents under the tree and her opening her presents on Christmas morning!
So this year I’ve got Christmas-themed areas in my home! Red and white (this is version 2.0 as it’s been redecorated about 100 times) and gold for the real tree and living room area and then blue and silver for the dining area! I say this now quite loosely.
Half of the candy canes decorations bit the dust from this version of the tree by an excited toddler! We’ve now moved the trees around due to the tree getting played with a bit too much and being pulled (my blood pressure couldn‘t take it every time the whole thing swayed!) So now it’s in the corner!
Ok, so I now realise, I may have gone overboard with the trees this year and to be honest, we all know why.......
1: This year has been really tough mentally for me (shielding) so I have gone overboard - but who can blame me! I’ve spoken about the other reasons why I love Christmas, so many times.
2: I now realise that I don’t need to do everything in one year and this year has definitely made me realise I put a lot of internal pressure on myself to strive for perfection (the gram doesn’t help!) I’ve realised I don't need to make everything! So next year I don’t think we will be getting a real tree as #toddlergate v #treegate will probably still be in progress!
This year has really made me see through different eyes, what’s really important!
Bye Festive Friends XX
