Christmas film review: Help for the Holidays

When a Christmas elf is sent to bring Christmas cheer to a family who lost the Christmas joy after owning a Christmas shop.

Eeeek! I hope this never happens to me (losing the Christmas joy I mean!)

I do feel like a bit of a secret elf in the human pessimistic and grumpy world! I love spreading Christmas joy and my dream is to do this full time one day (if I could wander around handing out candy canes all year round I would!) Right now I think everyone is craving Christmas joy! People are enjoying Junemas /Julymas, watching Christmas films, I was doing Christmas Zoom calls to my Christmas Friends! It’s needed!

Eating mince pies! (I may or may not be one of those people!) Ok so I may have bought mince pies in June #sorrynotsorry

I love making homemade decorations, felt and clay and wooden ones just like the elf in the film although she refuses to sell her decorations, I feel it’s the best way for me to spread my Christmas cheer! Here‘s my Nativity scene.

Christine the elf does break the rules and falls in love with the children’s Uncle David. She has to choose to stay with family or go back to being an elf but miss out on love!

Spoiler she stays with the family and helps the family realise what’s important to them too as well as to herself!

Sparking joy in others is definitely something I want to do more of, just call me Marie Kondo! Haha! I think this film has a good message, not to lose sight of what is really important. We can all get lost in the manicness of the Christmas rush and presents, giving and receiving. (Might have got slightly stressed about coming up with elf on the shelf ideas last year!)

However if a year of a global pandemic has taught us anything then this film is definitely not lost on me this year! Family and friends are the most important things and getting that balance in life is so important. Finding love and being able to share Christmas with the ones you love is very important and this year being apart for Christmas from family was hard so we won’t be taking it for granted again.

I’m lucky to have found my Christmas love (hubby proposed to me at Christmas) and I now I’m lucky enough to share Christmas with my miracle daughter and my wonderful Hubby. I think opening yourself to Christmas joy may bring you more than just presents under the tree! I do believe Miracles do happen, especially at Christmas (I’ve certainly had a few in my life!)

I enjoyed this film, yes it’s very Hallmark-y and definitely left me feeling warm and fuzzy (which was nice - I’ll often watch a Christmas film to cheer myself up!) It was sealed with a Christmas kiss!

If you want a warm and fuzzy film then this one is perfect! Although the ending was obviously going to happen, I still enjoyed it!

I’m recording a lot of Christmas movies from Movies24 which turns into Christmas24 at Christmastime. I want to review these films because I have watched them a lot but not spoken about what I thought. I know there’s a lot of Hallmark films to watch so best get cracking…….

Bye Festive FriendsXX
