Blogmas: handmade Christmas decorations
This year as I won’t be seeing my Mum's side of the family I decided to make a little decoration each. These have been a year in the making from design to making to painting!
Each idea and design I came up for each individual per home or couple! It has takes a long time!
Here are the finished piece, I’m quite proud of myself that I managed to finish them! I was panicking I wouldn’t get them finished to take to my mums house for her Christmas on the 5th!
The Christmas Wreath- I have already given this to my Granny early as part of her Christmas present! It went really well with her little red tree! It was the first one I made! I put tiny baubles on it and a bow which were both red! Simple use of just a deep green and red but very pretty!
Scottish Bagpiper- he was made for my brother. He has very similar tartan to our Murray tartan and he has peacock feathers in his hat and boot! He was hard to construct because of the bagpipes which I had to reinforce behind but once painted it wasn’t noticeable!
Partridge in a Pear Tree- I designed this for my Mum which had a free hanging little partridge again a difficult one to do because of the partridge dangling. I had to use tiny hanging hooks which had to be embedded into the clay as I didn’t have loads of space in the hole in the tree!
Angel Trumpeting- This one was done in just gold and white. It was to create an elegance. It’s a fairly simple design but with it just in gold makes it more sophisticated. The person I did this for loves music!
The Peace Dove- again fairly simple in it’s design but by only using gold it give it a more elegant feel. I brushed the gold on the edges to emphasise details! This is for someone who likes “less is more”.
A Christmas Dog- He’s wearing a Christmas tree jumper and a Christmas hat and a gold bow tie! He’s holding a present. Painting the little tree was tricky! This is for a family who loves their dog!
The Robin- He’s a smart Robin because he’s dressed in a gold bow tie! He‘s a cute round Robin! He’s for someone's who’s a chirpy as he is!
The Ange’s Face- This was very hard to construct because of the weight of the wings and getting them even so the decorations balances nicely! I had to reinforce the wings due to them having delicate seams attaching to her face! I also managed to reinforce but add extra 3d hair to create a strong seam at the front too! Her little face looks like she’s singing, ooooooooo! I will be remaking her for us too! she is for a family who I think will enjoy her cuteness!
And Finally.....
A Sprig of Holly- these leaves started out as oak leaves which I then moulded them into their love Holly shape! Again fairly simple but I had to reinforce the leaves coming together because the points were so delicate at the top where the heavy berries would go! This is for someone who has got a new home!
I also made my Nephews a Grinch decoration. I tidied up the green a bit (I forgot to get an after picture!)
I loved designing and making these!
