Isle of Wight-Summer
Summer on the island is very different, there are lots of fun things to do like the zoo, Amazon World, Blackgang Chine, The Needles Pleasure Park, the Dinosaur Museum, Osborne House, the alpaca farm, IOW Festival and lot of other places to visit. I have to say that I really enjoyed the Zoo and Amazon World. I love big cats and I took these wonderful pics of the the Liger (cross between a lion and a tiger-only happens in captivity.) I didn't really get any good shots of the white tiger which only had one eye - not sure if it's still there as this was several years ago now.
We have also visited Blackgang Chine, we had mini donuts, a massive lunch and a walk through the park (look out for dinosaurs.)
There's a lot to do at the park and it's definitely a place for all ages (brings back memories of a school trip to the IOW, a year 6 trip with spam sandwiches-delicious, half the class decided they were vegetarian!)
Luckily visiting this time there was not a spam sandwich in sight.
They have a great cafe where you can get food even for fussy eaters.
They had my favourite scampi and chips, the portion size was massive (our family motto on the Island is: Fill your boots!)
The island has lovely scenery and beautiful spots to take some Instagram's if you're into that type of thing, great for photographers and walkers too. There are plenty of lovely beaches to visit and paddle or swim if you're feeling more adventurous!
Ventnor is one of my favourite places to visit, especially in the summer as it has great views and lovely little places to eat (there's a theme-that's another blog!) We eat at The Spyglass every time we visit the IOW.
Amazon World is also great to see some different animals. They have more birds and Lima's, it's quite small, it's no Longleat guys but it really is a fun place to visit. It's a great educational place to visit to learn about the Amazon habitat, animals and birds for little ones.
The Needles Pleasure Park is another great place to go and really interesting with maybe finding fossils and beautiful coloured sands. There's also old fashioned sweet making which you can watch being made and even taste some samples.
So one of the most enjoyable things to do in the summer in the IOW is to sit by the sea at The Hut and have a cocktail or a mocktail (in my case) and watch the world go by.
Have a great summer!
